Coptis ramosa (Makino) Tamura
Family: RanunculaceaeJapanese: オオゴカヨウオウレン (大五加葉黄蓮) [Ōgokayō Ōren]
These early denizens of spring often grow among the moss in high-altitude forests. The delicate leaves of this endemic species remain green throughout the year.
