Osmanthus heterophyllus (G.Don) P.S.Green

Japanese: ヒイラギ (柊) [Hiiragi]
This 'false holly' bears red berries and has young leaves that resemble holly, but become more rounded for mature plants in sunny areas. I've seen it on some higher peaks too, but I don't know when it blooms at different elevations around the island.
