Scutellaria sp.
Family: LamiaceaeEnglish: Skullcap (sp.)
Japanese: タツナミソウ (立浪草) [Tatsunamisō]
These small annual are found from coastal towns and foot hills to the peaks of the central mountains. There are a few similar species in this genus—perhaps S. indica near coastal towns and S. laeteviolacea at higher elevations, and then there is the endemic S. amabilis. or S. rubropunctata Hayata var. yakusimensis (ヤクシマナミキ/ヒメアカボシタツナミ). I'm not very confident in my species identification.
