This plant bares petal-lacking clusters of male and female flowers (Something I just picked up from http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/jura2591/diary/201103290000/ .) and the opposing arrangement of leaves is quite striking. A fellow guide and wood-worker tells me the tall, straight trunks of this species are used for fine wood pieces. Oh, and the variety is a Wilson!
